Sources: 2016 Chevrolet Camaro to get 2.0L turbo four

August 3rd, 2014 by

Automobile Magazine recently learned that the next generation Chevrolet Camaro may get a 2.0L turbocharged four for the 2016 model year. And this makes perfect sense considering the Camaro’s direct competitor, the Mustang, gets a 2.3L turbocharged and direct-injected EcoBoost four as the middle-grade engine.According to the report, the new Camaro will ride on the latest long-wheelbase Alpha platform, the same one underpinning the current Cadillac CTS. The final product supposedly results in an increase of 2.3 inches in total length when compared to the outgoing model. Though despite the increase, the new car will weigh quite bit less–”several hundred pounds” less, was the descriptor. In addition to the new turbo four, the naturally-aspirated V6 and infamous V8 will also carry over. Specifics for the four weren’t disclosed, but postulation suggest around 272hp and 295 lb-ft of torque–probably the same motor found in the current ATS and CTS.Source: AutomobileJustin GrubbTim Short Chevy Buick GMCWinchester KY859-744-3564
